WHERE Were You Harassed? is an inclusive, anonymous collection of location stories where sexual harassment took place. It is a combination public service and art project.
HOW THE PROJECT STARTED
In early November 2017, amidst the burgeoning #metoo movement and the startling, almost daily revelations about Harvey Weinstein and others, San Francisco Bay Area artist Barbara Bryn Klare posted this question on her Facebook page:
WHERE Were You Harassed?
She received over 100 responses the first day. What began as a question on Facebook evolved into print, photography, and video work. A print version of the first 288 location stories was published in WORDPOWER: LANGUAGE AS MEDIUM, an anthology that examines the power of text in contemporary creative practices.
In September 2018, Ms Klare re-opened the project after several months’ hiatus, on the eve of Dr Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee. There are more so many more stories to be told.
